秩序异托邦:摩尔诗歌的空间解读

内容提要:美国现代派诗人玛丽安·摩尔擅长将空间现代性转化为诗歌美学,其“反诗”特质别具一格。本文借鉴列斐伏尔空间三元论和福柯异托邦思想,探究摩尔空间诗学,揭示现代性与“反诗”形式之间的同构关系。诗人通过异托邦书写重构自然空间的现代秩序、构筑城市空间“互动的和谐”、生成现实与想象完美结合的诗性空间。摩尔“情感的努力”颠覆式再现碎片化社会现实,以异托邦他者视角审视现代生活,结合“反诗”形式展演并反思现代性文化,充分体现以诗歌重构秩序的美学理想及对现代人精神境况的关切。

Title: Heterotopia of Order: A Spatial Interpretation of Marianne Moore’s Poetry

ABSTRACT: The American modernist poet Marianne Moore was skilled in transforming spatial modernity into poetic aesthetics. In light of Lefebvre’s space theory and Foucault’s idea of heterotopia, this article explores Moore’s spatial poetics to reveal the isomorphic relationship between modernity and her unique anti-poetic poetry. By representing different heterotopias, Moore reconstructs the order of natural spaces, establishes harmonious urban spaces and creates poetic spaces with her perfect fusion of reality and imagination. Her “efforts of affection” reproduce fragmented living spaces in a subversive way, imitating and reflecting the culture of modernity from the perspective of heterotopia, which expresses her aesthetic ideal of reshaping order through poetry and her concern with the spiritual crisis of modern society.

格吕克《冬日食谱》中的中国元素与老年想象

内容提要:当代美国女诗人露易丝·格吕克的最新诗集《冬日食谱》化用大量的中国元素,探讨老年主题。格吕克使用了《道德经》中的中国元素以及《雉鸡图》、东方盆景等中国意象,并从中国古代哲学和艺术思想中汲取东方式的老年生命观,为老年群体对抗身体的衰老与内心的衰凄提供解决之道。本文将从诗歌中的老年生命观、诗意化的老年“和合”世界和格吕克对当下老年问题的反思三个方面,探讨格吕克如何运用中国传统文化元素,平衡集体主义与个人主义思想,构想了一个互助互爱、自在超然的诗意化老年世界,从而揭示了当下美国社会对老年群体需求的忽视。

Title: The Chinese Elements and Imagination of Being Old in Louise Glück’s Winter Recipes from the Collective

ABSTRACT: Winter Recipes from the Collective is the most recent poetry collection by contemporary American poet Louise Glück, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2020. Glück adopts Chinese elements from the Daodejing in her poems, along with Chinese images such as the painting Zhijitu and bonsai art. The Eastern outlook of life drawn from ancient Chinese philosophy and art helps the elderly to gain strength to confront the impermanence of life and spiritual gloom. This paper analyzes how Chinese elements fit into the thematic exploration of old age in three ways, namely, the life outlook of the elderly, the poetic communal world of the elderly, and Glück’s reflection on issnes regarding the elderly. The poet balances collectivism and individualism, criticizes American society’s ignorance about the elderly and imagines a poetic elderly world of care, love, freedom and ease.

超越 种族主义:后族裔批评视域中美国戏剧

书写的新范式

 —以三部戏剧为个案

内容提要:后族裔批评作为一种新的批评方式,剖析了种族矛盾产生的根源,揭示了后种族书写的创作特点,成为观照后族裔文学的新路径。将21世纪美国戏剧置于后族裔批评视阈下,不难发现有关种族问题书写不同作家采取了不同范式。一些剧作家,像马梅特选择逆向反击;也有一些剧作家,像诺里斯采用巧妙的情节与幽默的语言等后族裔美学手法来回避、淡化种族问题;更有一些作家,像阿赫塔尔通过乌托邦现实主义手法,建构超越种族主义的美好世界。所有这些范式,可以看作是后种族时代剧作家为了实现超越种族主义、实现族裔和谐共处美好愿景的积极努力。

Title: Beyond Racism: New Post-ethnic Paradigms in American Playwriting

ABSTRACT: As a new way of criticism, post-ethnic critique explores the root causes of racial conflict, reveals the features of post-racial writings and becomes a new tool to survey post-ethnic literature. Examining 21st-century American plays from the perspective of post-ethnic studies, we find that playwrights, confronting the race problem, have adopted diverse paradigms in their writings. Some, like David Mamet, choose to fight back. Others, like Bruce Norris, adopt post-ethnic aestheticism through skillful plot arrangement and humorous language to avoid confrontation between the races, while still others, like Ayad Akhtar, try to construct a utopian world to realize their raceless dreams. These efforts, considered together, can be regarded as a positive move beyond racism in a post-racial area.

论科尔森·怀特黑德作品中的“反规训”空间政治

内容提要:美国黑人作家科尔森·怀特黑德凭借小说《地下铁道》和《尼克男孩》两次斩获美国普利策文学奖。两部小说均渗透着作者鲜明的空间主体意识,小说中的尼克学校、自然奇观博物馆、医院、市中心公园等空间内嵌着规训法则和权力技术,标注了特定历史时期的种族政治秩序。更重要的是,怀特黑德将空间作为反规训书写的锚点,通过着力书写黑人的空间争夺、空间翻转和越界等空间实践与白人进行秩序博弈,质疑种族主义规训话语,表达“反规训”的空间政治之思。

Title: Anti-Disciplinary Spatial Politics in Colson Whitehead’s Novels

ABSTRACT: African American writer Colson Whitehead has won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction twice, for his novels The Underground Railroad and The Nickel Boys. Both novels are permeated with the author’s distinctive consciousness of spatial subjectivity. Locations in these novels — such as the Nickel Academy, the hospital, the Museum of Natural Wonders and the park in the city center — are embedded with disciplinary rules and power technology, representing the order of racial politics in specific historical periods. More importantly, Whitehead takes space as the anchor point of anti-disciplinary writing. By focusing on black people’s spatial practices, such as the scramble for space, space flipping and transgression, and their battles with white people for order, Whitehead challenges racist disciplinary discourse and expresses his philosophy of “anti-disciplinary” spatial politics.

书写人类世的故事:论金·斯坦利·罗宾逊《未来部》

内容提要:地质学概念“人类世”从科学上揭示了人类对地球面貌的强大改造能力,也提出了一个重大思想挑战:重新认识这个已改变的世界,以及人自身的境况。人类世语境相应地对文学想象,尤其是环境文本的写作和研究提出了新要求。美国科幻小说家金·斯坦利·罗宾逊的最新作《未来部》对此作出了有力的回应,在叙事策略、情感模式和文学类型上补充并超越了主流小说叙事的固有传统,敏锐地捕捉到气候变化时代新的生活现实。罗宾逊的思想实验探索了人与这个深陷气候危机的世界的相处方式,为地球共同体在“人的时代”的健康存续提供了重要启迪。

Title: Storytelling in the Anthropocene: On Kim Stanley Robinson’s The Ministry for the Future

ABSTRACT: As a geological term, the Anthropocene has not only revealed the overwhelmingly transformative force Homo sapiens can exert on the earth, but has also challenged human beings to reconceptualize this altered world and the human condition. The context of the Anthropocene has, accordingly, called for new forms of literary imagination, particularly in the writing and study of environmental texts. American science fiction writer Kim Stanley Robinson’s latest novel, The Ministry for the Future, takes on this challenging task. In terms of narrative strategy, affective mode and genre, Ministry alters the conventions of mainstream fiction while capturing the new living reality in a world affected by climate change. Robinson’s thought experiment probes into the ways in which human beings engage with this world of climate crisis, providing valuable insights for the collective survival of the earth community in “the Human Age.”

“占有、从属、重复”

 —《星期六》中的霸权性男性气质

内容提要:麦克尤恩的小说《星期六》常被置于“后9·11”的时代背景下加以评析,然而以性别分析的视角切入会发现,小说主人公亨利·贝罗安对性别议题的相关思考同样发人深省。实际上,麦克尤恩在书中刻画了一位集各种社会资源和家庭优势于一身的男性人物,并着力凸显了这位精英男性对自我与他者之间关系的认知。本文指出,霸权性男性气质时刻支配着贝罗安的思想和行为,这使他既无法真正理解女性的问题与困境,也难以摆脱阶级与种族偏见,进而平等对待他者。贝罗安看似理性和真诚的反思实则仍是对性别霸权主义的继承。借助对这一人物的反讽书写,麦克尤恩表达了对霸权性男性气质的否定态度和批判意图。

Title: Approaching the Hegemonic Masculinity in Saturday

ABSTRACT: Ian McEwan’s novel Saturday has been analyzed adequately in the “post-9/11” context. However, from the perspective of gender studies, its protagonist Henry Perowne’s deliberation related to gender issues is also thought-provoking. McEwan portrays a male character with a substantial number of social resources and familial advantages, and highlights this man’s attitude towards the relationship between himself and the Other. This article points out that hegemonic masculinity is a constant factor shaping Perowne’s mind and behavior, which precludes him not only from true understanding of women’s suffering, but also from discarding the class and racial prejudices in his mind. Thus, it is impossible for him to treat the Other equally. Perowne’s seemingly rational and sincere thoughts are in fact the continuance of gender hegemonism. By the ironic portrayal of this character, McEwan expresses his strong negation of, and a critical attitude towards, hegemonic masculinity.

多元文化视角下《黑岩白城》中离散族裔的生存困境

内容提要:A.S.帕特里奇的处女作《黑岩白城》因其对当代墨尔本离散族裔的生存关注而斩获迈尔斯·弗兰克林奖。文章以多元文化为研究视角,围绕澳大利亚离散族裔的现实处境、生存含混与生存幻灭,探究多元文化“维护白人社会文化差异”的本质思维下亚文化群体的生存困境,考察小说为澳大利亚离散族裔生存状况呐喊发声的主旨。《黑岩白城》对离散族裔生存困境的现代性含混书写,反映了澳大利亚多元文化的虚假与荒诞,表明其多元文化融合之路的任重道远。

Title: Multiculturalism and Diasporic Predicaments in Black Rock White City

ABSTRACT: A. S. Patri., an emerging novelist in Australia, won the 2016 Miles Franklin Award for his debut novel Black Rock White City, which explores the predicaments of diasporic groups in multicultural Australia. In Patri.’s work, the diasporas in Melbourne are sub-cultural groups with harsh living conditions, ambiguous living attitudes and poor living prospects. The article argues that Patri., as a writer of moral principles and social responsibilities, shows much sympathy with the afflicted diasporas’ existential predicaments in Australia.

介于“此地”与“别处”之间

 —博纳富瓦“腹地”诗学研究

内容提要:博纳富瓦主张一种以“此地和现时”为核心的“在场”理念,其诗歌从“此地”出发,尝试在旅行、记忆等场域中发现“真正的地点”和“真实的生活”。“此地”承载着诗人对真实的书写,却无法满足他对“别处”的想象。诗人借助“腹地”理念呈现介于“此地”与“别处”之间的场所,意在实现某种调和:既保持“真正的地点”的在场性,又回应兰波“改变生活”的召唤。本文力图挖掘诗人在艺术之旅中的“腹地”梦想,阐释其诗歌作品中的“腹地”意象,思考“腹地”理念对于现实存在的意义,最终建构起一种反映“在场”的“腹地”诗学。

Title: Between “Here” and “Elsewhere”: A Study of Bonnefoy’s Poetics of “Arrière-pays”

ABSTRACT: Yves Bonnefoy advocates a notion of “presence” centered on the “here and now”, and his poetry starts from the “here”, trying to discover the “real place” and “real life” in fields such as travel and memory. The “here” carries the poet’s writing about the real, but it cannot satisfy his imagination of the “elsewhere”. The poet uses the idea of “arrière-pays” to present a place between “here” and “elsewhere”, with the intention of achieving a certain reconciliation: maintaining the presence of the “real place” while responding to Rimbaud’s call to “change the life”. This essay seeks to explore the poet’s dream of “arrière-pays” in his artistic journey, explain the imagery of “arrière-pays” in his poetic works, consider the significance of the idea of “arrière-pays” for the reality of existence, and ultimately construct a poetics of “arrière-pays” that reflects “presence”.

反复与主体间性

 —阿兰—罗伯·格里耶《窥视者》中目光的隐喻

内容提要:“新小说”之“新”在于表达新的现实,新的现实却并非再现、表现现实世界的新现象、新风貌,而是文学的新现实与新讨论。1955年出版后即引发广泛争议、并在更大的争议声中夺得当年批评家奖的《窥视者》,以目光的诱惑隐喻了“新小说”理论旗手的格里耶想要表达的文学现实:感性材料何以构成文本的主题。以视觉这一感性材料为主题的《窥视者》,试图颠覆以理性认识为根基的传统文学,重塑文学的观看,首先借创作者、叙述者、人物的视觉选择与游移隐喻主体间性,其次借镜头感的叙事策略—反复表现主体间性晦暗不明又诱惑的张力,借目光的交互性让不可见的内在性可见。

Title: Understanding the Metaphor of Eyes in Alain Robbe-Grillet’s Le Voyeur

ABSTRACT: The “newness” of the “new novel” lies in its expression of new reality, but the new reality is not intended to represent new phenomena and new styles in the real world, but rather to present the new reality and new discussion of literature. After its publication in 1955, Le Voyeur, which caused widespread controversy and won the Critics’ Award, used the temptation of eyes as a metaphor for the reality of literature that Alain Robbe-Grillet, the champion of the “new novel” theory, wanted to express, namely, how perceptual materials constitute the meaning of the text. Le Voyeur, based on the perceptual materials of vision, attempts to subvert traditional literature based on rational knowledge and reshape the way in which readers view literature. Firstly, it highlights intersubjectivity through the metaphor of visual choices and the visual wandering of the author, narrator and characters. Then, it focuses repetitively on the obscure and seductive tension of intersubjectivity through narrative strategies that imitate cinematography, thus making invisible interiority visible through the interactivity of the eyes.

尊严 、风景与英国性:

《长日留痕》中的民族共同体书写

内容提要:本文在民族共同体理论基础上,探究《长日留痕》中英国在第一次世界大战后旧社会秩序落败时期对民族身份的重建。立足管家史蒂文斯的记忆叙事,本文界定了尊严、风景和英国性的内涵。在历史时间维度,绅士尊严诠释了英国社会秩序的变迁过程,表现为对尊严的定义从血统秩序、道德秩序逐渐走向货币秩序;在社会空间维度,乡村风景承载了民族历史记忆,其能指从表征社会秩序逐渐嬗变为国家的代名词。英国性统摄绅士尊严与乡村风景,体现了想象共同体的本质意志,是国家文化的根脉。本文认为,史蒂文斯在对绅士尊严和乡村英格兰风景的怀旧中建立个体与民族之间的情感纽带,寻找对想象的民族共同体的归属感,重建民族身份认同。

Title: Locating National Community in The Remains of the Day

ABSTRACT: In light of theories concerning national community, this article explores how national identity is constructed in The Remains of the Day amid the fall of the old social order after World War I. Based on the memory narrative of Mr. Stevens, the article explores the themes of dignity, landscape and Englishness. In the dimension of historical time, the gentleman’s dignity is defined successively by blood order, moral order and monetary order, and this process demonstrates a change in the British social order. In the dimension of social space, the country landscape bears the national historical memory, and its signifier changes from the social order to Great Britain itself. Englishness permeates the gentleman’s dignity and country landscape, which denotes the Wesenwille of the imagined community and the root of the national culture. Immersed in nostalgia for the gentleman’s dignity and country landscape, Stevens manages to bridge the emotional bond between individual and nation, to pursue the sense of belonging for the imagined community, and to reconstruct the national identity.

褪色·着色·融合

 —论托妮·莫里森《孩子的愤怒》中的文化身份构建

内容提要:文化身份是托妮·莫里森小说的重要主题之一,《孩子的愤怒》就描写了一对年轻黑人在经历身份危机后进行身份重建的过程,展现出黑人在美国当代社会中的真实生活境遇。童年时期的阴影促使布莱德和布克形成了二元对立的文化态度,使其产生了文化身份的偏差。他们在公共空间和私人空间中的抗争并没能缓解身份危机,而在第三空间中,通过交流和协商,他们实现了身份重建。因此,运用霍米·巴巴的后殖民理论分析这部作品不仅对解析主人公的身份重建具有重要意义,更有助于探讨作品在当下多元文化社会中的现实价值。

ABSTRACT: Cultural identity is one of the important themes in Toni Morrison’s novels. God Help the Child describes the process of identity reconstruction that a pair of young black people go through after experiencing an identity crisis in their lives, which represents the real-life situation of black people in contemporary American society. The shadow of childhood forces the two characters to develop a dualistic cultural attitude, which disturbs their cultural identification. Their struggles in the public and private spheres fail to alleviate their identity crisis, but in the Third Space, they manage to reconstruct their identity through communication and negotiation. Employing Homi Bhabha’s postcolonial theory to analyze their identity reconstruction, this article also explores the practical value of this work in contemporary multicultural society.

从有根世界主义解析古尔纳小说《赞美沉默》

中的多语现象

内容提要:在古尔纳小说中,几乎每部都会掺入不少斯、阿等非英语言。本文首先引入阿皮亚的有根世界主义,以《赞美沉默》为例,从后殖民角度分析这种多语现象所折射的自发/强制文化融合和本土/殖民语言的地位关系,继而指出这种多语糅杂畅想了一种多元并存、平等交融的有根世界主义,对英语当前的通用语地位从帝国内部提出质疑。此外,本文还对作品中阿语与伊斯兰教的关联进行深究,认为作家的这种多语策略和对宗教信仰的重视也是对东非印度洋多元文化的一种伸张,而小说主人公正是因为割裂自己的文化纽带才沦为无根的流民。

Title: Multilingualism in Abdulrazak Gurnah’s Admiring Silence from the Perspective of Rooted Cosmopolitanism

ABSTRACT: Abdulrazak Gurnah has dexterously incorporated Swahili, Arabic and other non-English languages into his corpus. Adopting Appiah’s rooted cosmopolitanism as a theoretical perspective and taking Gurnah’s Admiring Silence as an example, this essay investigates the natural/imposed cultural exchanges between native and colonial languages and the inequality between them. It argues that Gurnah, while envisioning a rooted cosmopolitan landscape in which different cultures co-exist and freely exchange, calls into question the current status of English as a lingua franca. In addition, this paper examines the overtones of the Arabic words in the novel, concluding that Gurnah’s linguistic hybridity and stress upon religion have asserted a multi-faceted Afro-Indian culture, while the narrator’s severance from his native culture has reduced him to a rootless diasporan.

内容提要:2022年诺贝尔文学奖获得者安妮·埃尔诺是当代法国文坛最富勇气和创造力的作家之一。“介入”是埃尔诺基于在场的个体经验形成的写作伦理,也是作家打通私人领域和公共空间的方式,不仅体现在她借由自然的身份对性别议题展开的女性书写,或基于“阶级变节者”身份对底层阶级的典型环境及其遭遇的象征暴力进行的见证写作,更内化于她以自传为底色的文本形式与风格的跨界生产,她发明的“社会自传”建立在一种超越个体维度的民族志叙事模式之上,而其主张的“平白行文”的写作风格则开创了有别于纯文学的审美话语模式,用大众语言丰富了文学的时代内涵。

Title: Annie Ernaux’s Committed Writings

ABSTRACT: Annie Ernaux, winner of the 2022 Nobel Prize for Literature, is one of the most courageous and creative writers in contemporary French literature. She developed “commitment” as an ethic of writing based on the existential experience of presence, and as a dialogic mediation between the private sphere and the public sphere that the writer constructs. Her commitment is loud and clear not only in her writing on gender issues, or in the way she writes as a “social defector” to bear witness to the situation of the underclasses and the symbolic violence they encounter, but also in the way she produces a text based on autobiography that crosses boundaries in form and style. The “auto-socio-biography” she invented is based on an ethnographic narrative that transcends the individual, while the “plain writing” style she advocated has created an aesthetic mode which, unlike pure literature, incorporates popular language to enrich the literature of our time.

雷蒙·威廉斯对高雅文化与大众文化的关系思考

内容提要:文化问题是雷蒙·威廉斯理论思考的核心命题。20世纪50年代末,威廉斯批判了文化保守主义者对文化、大众文化的高度抽象化的定义,打破了高雅文化与大众文化之间的等级制。60年代,他提出“文化革命”理论,走向对两者之间关系的重新建构,认为两者之间存在一种渐进主义式的融合。70年代之后,受葛兰西“文化领导权”理论的影响,他将这种渐进主义的二元关系转变为具有革命性的三元关系,即主导文化、新兴文化、残余文化之间的复杂斗争关系。

Title: Raymond Williams’s Thought on the Relationship between High and Mass Culture

ABSTRACT: Cultural issues are at the center of Raymond Williams’s theoretical thinking. At the end of the 1950s, Williams criticized the highly abstract definition of culture and mass culture produced by cultural conservatives, thus breaking down the hierarchy between high and mass culture. In the 1960s, by proposing the theory of “cultural revolution,” he reconstructed the relationship between high and mass culture and pointed out that there was a gradual integration between them. From the 1970s, under the influence of Gramsci’s theory of cultural hegemony, he transformed the binary relationship of gradualism into a revolutionary ternary relationship, demonstrating that there was a complex struggle between dominant culture, emerging culture and residual culture.Keywords: Raymond Williams, high culture, mass culture, hegemony

暮年帝国的认知症:

石黑一雄小说《被掩埋的巨人》中的疾病隐喻

内容提要:石黑一雄的长篇小说《被掩埋的巨人》(2015)中由魔法造成的集体遗忘现象表现出典型的认知症特征:村民们吸入母龙呼出的迷雾之后,其长期与短期记忆均受到严重破坏,同时出现情绪失控和思维能力受损等症状。酷似认知症症状的集体遗忘喻示着国家的衰亡与秩序的崩溃;迷雾意象作为遗忘的传播媒介,也与瘴气和瘟疫的隐喻密切相关,揭示了掩盖大屠杀历史真相这一行为的非正义本质。作者运用多种疾病相关的意象与隐喻,来表现暴力与仇恨的记忆所带来的社会危机以及遗忘创伤历史所造成的危害,小说中的疾病隐喻不仅表达了作者对于社会失序的焦虑,也承载着作者对于记忆和遗忘的辩证思考:极端的仇恨记忆可能发展为危害和平与秩序的“恶疾”,使社会陷于同态复仇的恶性循环,但对于历史创伤的全盘遗忘同样是一种病态的表现。

Title: Illness as Metaphor in Kazuo Ishiguro’s The Buried Giant

ABSTRACT: The mass forgetting induced by magic in Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel The Buried Giant shows the typical symptoms of dementia: after the villagers inhale mist produced by the dragon, their long-term and short-term memories are severely damaged, and they lose control of their emotions and become incapable of logical thinking. This collective forgetting demonstrates the decline of the nation and the collapse of the social order. As a transmitter of collective forgetting, the magical mist in the novel is also closely associated with miasma and plague, which reveals the injustice of concealing the massacre. The author applies a wide range of illness-related images and metaphors to represent the social crises caused by memories of violence and hatred, as well as the harms caused by forgetting historical trauma. The metaphors of illness in the novel not only demonstrate Ishiguro’s concern for social disorder but also carry his dialectical reflections on memory and forgetting. The novel suggests that memories of extreme hatred may develop into a serious “illness” that threatens the peace and order of a community and trap it inside a vicious circle of retaliation. On the other hand, however, completely forgetting historical trauma can also lead to a pathological state.

内容提要: 《地平线》是莫迪亚诺第一个采用了“充满希望的结尾”的故事,记忆与遗忘在其中相互角力,文本叙事因此呈现出明显的交替性特征。在叙述机制层面,叙述视角的交替使得记忆成为他者的证词,在不确定中显露出确定性;不同人物话语的交替极大丰富了文本的语义密度,将记忆嵌入多重叙述维度;叙事速度和叙事频率的交替与心理时间的自然进程相呼应,共同构建出莫迪亚诺小说虚实交错的记忆图景。

Title: The Memory Narrative in Modiano’s L’Horizon

ABSTRACT: L’Horizon is Patrick Modiano’s first story with a “hopeful ending,” in which memory and oblivion struggle with each other, marking the narrative with strong characteristics of alternation. On the level of narrative mechanism, the alternation of narrative perspectives makes memory a testimony of the Other and reveals certainty in uncertainty. The alternation of different character discourses greatly enriches the semantic density of the text and embeds memory into multiple narrative dimensions. The alternation of narrative speed and narrative frequency coincides with the natural process of mental time, thus constructing an imagery of the interlacing of virtuality and reality in Modiano’s novel.

内容提要:罗伯特·威尔逊是当代美国先锋戏剧运动中锐意进行戏剧革新的剧场艺术家,其特点在于戏剧观念的推陈出新和创作手法的兼容并包。他广泛吸取了象征主义、超现实主义、包豪斯建筑设计、后现代舞蹈和东方古典戏剧的影响,从而形成以“拼贴”为核心的、跨越不同艺术媒介的戏剧构作理念。本文从视觉、听觉和文化三个维度考察威尔逊的“戏剧拼贴”:视觉层面构建出视像化的时空建筑模式,听觉层面中拼贴式的音乐结构和“对位法”的使用,以及文化层面上东方艺术的交融与影响。威尔逊的“拼贴”技法体现了他戏剧美学的先锋性、经典性和异质性。

Title: On the Audio-Visual Feast and Cultural Integration of Robert Wilson’s “Theatrical Collage”

ABSTRACT: Robert Wilson, a leading figure in American avant-garde theater, has extensively absorbed symbolism, surrealism, Bauhaus architectural design, postmodern dance and classical Oriental opera, among other influences, to create a transmedia “collage” theater of his own. This paper examines Wilson’s theatrical collage from three dimensions, namely vision, hearing and culture. On the visual level, this theatrical collage usually adopts a spatiotemporal architectural model; on the audial level, it tends to mix musical structures and features “counterpoint”; and on the cultural level, it often integrates elements of Eastern art. Wilson’s collage techniques reflect the avant-garde, classic and heterogeneous nature of his theatrical aesthetics.

论《内陆深处》的空间化叙事策略

内容提要: 《内陆深处》是库切相对较难理解的作品,小说的日记体独白讲述了一个个扑朔迷离、真假难辨的故事片段。尽管与南非传统的农场小说相仿,但《内陆深处》开创性地采用多重故事建构非线性叙事,取得了空间化叙事的艺术效果。本论文借助空间化叙事理论探讨库切如何在《内陆深处》中采用碎片、回环、并置等空间化叙事策略,颠覆南非小说单一、线性、封闭的传统叙事模式,用多元开放的文学想象抵御历史权威,重塑小说的文学独立性。空间化叙事是库切在南非种族隔离的新社会历史环境下改良南非文学、探索小说叙事新模式的大胆尝试。

Title: Spatial Narrative Strategies in J. M. Coetzee’s In the Heart of the Country

ABSTRACT: The diary-like monologues in J. M. Coetzee’s In the Heart of the Country offer fragmentary, ambiguous and inconsistent accounts of events, making the novel one of the most difficult to comprehend in Coetzee’s oeuvre. Despite its heavy indebtedness to the tradition of the farm novel in South Africa, In the Heart of the Country invents a nonlinear narrative of multiplicity to achieve the aesthetic effect of spatialization. This essay adopts spatial narrative theory to analyze how Coetzee uses the narrative strategies of fragmentation, circularity and juxtaposition in this novel to produce a spatial form of multi-dimensional openness and to subvert the linear discourse of exclusivity found in traditional South African narratives. With his literary imagination of multiplicity and openness, Coetzee resists the authority of history and restores the autonomy of fiction. In this sense, spatial narrative illustrates Coetzee’s writerly attempt to improve South African novelistic writing and to explore a new narrative mode as an acute response to the social and political upheavals in South Africa’s apartheid years.

内容提要:艾丽丝·默多克在小说《砍掉的头》中描摹了众多陈列之物,将主体和理性的关系具象化。不同房间中摆件的秩序和偶然无序映射出理性和非理性的冲突,且回应了20世纪英国文化领域科学和人文之争;青铜头颅雕像呈现出对于理性认知的质疑,并对科学理性予以批判;武士刀体现出的宗教性以及理性和非理性的统一性展示了当时西方学者希冀解决理性弊端的尝试。默多克通过这些陈列物和人物的互动内涵地映射出西方文化中理性宰制的弊端,并尝试借鉴东方文化提出解决之径。

Title: The Narratives of “Display Things” in Iris Murdoch’s A Severed Head

ABSTRACT: In her novel A Severed Head, Iris Murdoch portrays numerous things on display embodying the relationship between subject and rationality. Orderly and contingent things map the conflicts between rationality and irrationality and respond to the contention between “the two cultures” in the 20th century. The bronze head statue presents a questioning of rationality and a critique of scientific rationality, while the samurai sword conveys religious connotations and reflects the unity of rationality and irrationality, which demonstrates the attempts of Western scholars at the time to address the ills of rationality. By representing the interaction of subjects and things, Murdoch reveals the abuse of rationality in Western culture and suggests turning to Eastern culture for solutions.
