论菲利普·罗斯《鬼作家》的游戏性重构

    内容提要:菲利普·罗斯在《鬼作家》中对《安妮日记》进行了游戏性重构,不仅使历史文本转变为小说虚构,而且使安妮的叛逆形象与反传统的朱克曼形象建立了联系。这一过程中,罗斯通过安妮与艾米之间的身份关系,探索历史意识对美国犹太人的双重作用。一方面,他承认安妮与艾米身份的延续性,强调犹太历史意识对美国犹太人当下生活的重要作用;另一方面,通过强调安妮与艾米身份的差异性,罗斯在重构中凸显了沉重的历史意识对现实生活的负面影响。从根本上说,罗斯的游戏性重构是一种创造性遗忘的方式,使美国犹太人摆脱沉重历史负担,并在一定程度上“医治”了美国犹太人的“历史疾病”。

Title: On Philip Roth’s Reconstructive Freeplay in The Ghost Writer

ABSTRACT: Philip Roth’s The Ghost Writer, as a reconstructive freeplay with The Diary of Anne Frank, not only transforms the historical text into a fiction, but also reveals the resemblance between the rebellious Anne Frank and the disobedient Nathan Zuckerman.Through his freeplay, Roth explores the relationship between Anne and Amy in order to reflect on the paradoxical influence of Jewish historical consciousness on the life of American Jews. On the one hand, Roth recognizes the significance of historical consciousness by revealing the connection between Anne and Amy. On the other hand, he expresses a wary suspicion of the Jewish historical consciousness by emphasizing their differences. Fundamentally, Roth’s reconstructive freeplay is a creative forgetting of Jewish historical memories, and his freeplay with such memories, to some extent, aims to cure American Jews of their “historical diseases.”

《接骨师之女》:女性生命的代际书写

内容提要:《接骨师之女》拓展了谭恩美的母女关系主题,讲述了女性生命的代际冲突与跨国延续。目前国内外学者对该作品的研究多采用女性主义分析,缺乏生命写作角度的研究。就本部作品而言,血缘纽带、共同记忆是代际溯根书写的动机,讲故事的哺育方式是女性代际书写的呈现方式,每一代女儿对上一代母亲的书写都展示了生命传递中绵延不绝的生命激情与生存智慧。宝姨、茹灵、露丝三代女性的跨国际遇对应的是女性生命空间的不断扩展,而生命的代际书写成为生命绵延不绝的传输机制。

Title: Intergenerational Life Writing of Women in The Bonesetter’s Daughter

ABSTRACT: The Bonesetter’s Daughter expanded the mother-daughter leitmotif in Amy Tan’s works by telling a story about women’s lives during intergenerational conflict and transnational extension. Scholars at home and abroad have mainly adopted the perspective of feminism to read this novel but have largely overlooked its use of life writing. In this work, blood bonds and shared memories are thematic concerns for intergenerational root-seeking, and storytelling fosters intergenerational women’s life writing. The writing of each generation of daughters about their mothers’ lives demonstrates a continuous passion and wisdom while transmitting life. The transnational encounter between three generations of women, represented by Precious Auntie, Lu Ling, and Ruth, symbolizes the constant expansion of women’s living space, and intergenerational life writing is a transmitting mechanism for sustaining life.

新生代美国华裔文学中的“物”与文化身份

内容提要:20世纪80年代以来,涌现出一大批优秀的新生代美籍华裔作家。他们作品中的“物”对于小说叙事的发展具有多重功能:或是作为文化元素映射作品主题,或是作为主体推动叙事进程,又或是作为独立于认知之外的本体对主人公产生影响。“物”构成了人类生活的物理环境,不仅是叙事背景,也可以作为隐喻性的文化符号、能动性的主体或自在性的本体推动叙事发展,释放出强大的叙事动力。本文以“物”叙事为切入点,聚焦新生代美国华裔文学作品,为探讨当代美国华裔族群建构、反思自我文化身份提供一个新的视角。

Title: “Thing” and Cultural Identity in New-Generation Chinese American Literature

ABSTRACT: Since the 1980s, a new generation of Chinese American writers has emerged. “Thing” in their works has multiple functions in advancing fictional narratives: as a cultural element mapping themes, as an agent driving the narrative progression, and as a cognition-independent ontology influencing the protagonists. “Thing” constitutes the physical environment of human life, not only as narrative background but also as a metaphorical cultural symbol, dynamic agent, or self-referential ontology that drives narrative development and unleashes powerful narrative dynamics. This paper focuses on this new-generation Chinese American literature, taking “thing” narratives as a new entry point to explore the construction of and reflection on the self-cultural identity of the con temporary Chinese American community in these works.

从悲剧到胜利:英语“新冠诗歌”中的“疫情叙事”

内容提要:2020年以来用英语创作的关于新冠肺炎大流行的诗歌作品,是英语世界对这场肆虐人类的瘟疫的记录和反应,其内容包括疫情的爆发和发展、抗疫斗争的展开和推进、由此暴露的社会问题,以及人们对疫情结束和未来的展望等等。这些细节汇聚起来形成了一个完整的“疫情叙事”,其故事情节与历史上类似的“疫情叙事”大致相同,都具有沃尔德所说的对“社会问题”的偏好,也具有桑塔格所说的“疾病隐喻”倾向和“道德教诲”倾向。同时,它遵循了传统的“疫情叙事”的框架与模式,构成了一个“从悲剧到胜利,从苦难到救赎”的悲壮故事,代表着人们对疫情的意味深长和发人深省的反思和拷问。

Title: From Tragedy to Triumph: The “Pandemic Narrative” in English “Covid—19 Poems”

ABSTRACT: The poetic works on the covid—19 pandemic published since early 2020 are the “living record” of the English world’s responses to the pandemic, which taken together documented the pandemic’s progress, including its outbreak, the world’s countermeasures, the pandemic-intensified social problems, and the outlook on a changed world which will emerge at the end of the pandemic. The content of these poems constitutes a complete plague narrative, similar to those produced by past pandemics, with a predilection for what Priscilla Wald calls “social implications” of the disease and with a tendency to use what Susan Sontag calls “illness as metaphor” or as means of “moral teaching”. At the same time, the pandemic narrative follows the model of traditional plague narratives with a formulaic plot which develops from tragedy to triumph, from suffering to salvation, representing the world’s interesting and thought-provoking reflections and questionings.

困境突围与女性情谊

——解读《伊莱莎小姐的厨房手札》

内容提要:本文从女性主义视角解读当代英国女性作家安娜贝尔·阿布兹的新作《伊莱莎小姐的厨房手札》,指出阿布兹在这部新维多利亚小说中传承“她们自己的文学”传统,融合历史真实与虚构想象,通过来自不同阶层的两位女主人公伊莱莎和安交替叙事,描摹了维多利亚时代不同阶层贫富悬殊巨大、性别不平等的社会历史现实,揭露了维多利亚时代的道德伪善,以安一家为代表的下层穷人的艰难生存境遇,肯定了伊莱莎和安直面生存困境并携手从困境中突围的努力。两位女主人公在十年协作烹饪中缔结了跨阶层友情,并各自与同阶层女性发展姐妹情谊。这些跨阶层或同阶层的女性情谊滋养并赋能伊莱莎和安坚韧地反抗父权暴力、打破维多利亚时代父权社会对女性角色的规定、勇敢追寻具有独立人格的女性自我、大胆探索天赋并建构多维的自我身份,启迪21世纪的当代女性积蓄女性力量、争取性别平权。

Title: Getting out of Predicament through Female Friendship: A Feminist Reading of Miss Eliza’s English Kitchen

ABSTRACT: Reading Miss Eliza’s English Kitchen from a feminist perspective, this article argues that in this neo-Victorian fiction, contemporary British female writer Annabel Abbs carries on the tradition of “a literature of their own.” Blending historical reality and fictional imagination, and alternating between the narratives of two heroines from different social classes, Eliza and Ann, the fiction not only depicts the historical reality of huge disparity between the rich and the poor, and the inequality between men and women in the Victorian era, exposing the hypocrisy of Victorian morality, and the hard existence of the poor represented by Ann’s family, but also praises the efforts of Eliza and Ann to escape their predicament. While working together on a cookery book for a decade, the two heroines develop female friendship across the class divide and establish sisterhood with other women from their own respective classes. Eliza and Ann are thus empowered to resist Victorian patriarchal violence, break Victorian constraints on women’s social roles, explore their talents, and construct their multi-identities bravely. This inspires women in the twenty-first century to accumulate female power and strive for gender equality.

消逝的地方与全球化

 ——马丁·艾米斯《金钱——绝命书》中的地方

内容提要:《金钱——绝命书》中的地方书写是马丁·艾米斯关于全球化进程对社会文化影响的体察和深思。为带领英国经济走出低迷,撒切尔政府开启国家经济战略转向,希冀通过新自由主义伦理实现经济提振,伦敦的都市形象重塑成为整个英国状况的缩影,繁华的都市景观背后隐匿着步履维艰的情感依附、身份建构和民族认同。本文以地方意识为切入点,将地方置于全球化进程之中,以呈现20世纪末地方功能及意义的变迁,探讨地方建构过程中的意识形态、生产关系和权力关系。本文认为艾米斯指出了地方与个体身份、文化机制和民族性之间的复杂关系,消解了新自由主义神话,艾米斯对地方建设的多维度思考体现出他对国家政治经济发展的伦理关怀。

Title: Fading Place and Globalization: Place in Martin Amis’s Money: A Suicide Note

ABSTRACT: The role of place in Money: A Suicide Note by Martin Amis reflects the author’s thinking about the influence of globalization on local culture. In order to lead the British economy out of the doldrums, the Thatcher government began a strategic turn toward neoliberalism. London’s urban image turned into a microcosm of Britain, with a prosperous spectacle masking difficulties in emotional attachment, identity building, and national identification. From the perspective of the sense of place, this article shows the dramatical change of the place’s function and meaning during globalization and explores the ideology, relation of production, and power in the process of place construction. Amis reveals the complicated relationship between place and nationality and between identity and culture, and deconstructs the myth of neoliberalism. Through multi-dimensional thinking about place construction, Amis expresses his ethical concern about political and economic issues in Britain.

《脉搏》中的疾病叙事和中医形象研究

    内容提要:在《脉搏》中,朱利安·巴恩斯通过疾病叙事和塑造中医形象,对如何帮助老年人应对疾病展开文学思考。在疾病叙事中,巴恩斯主要采用恢复型叙事和追索型叙事分别对一对老年夫妇面临的嗅觉丧失症和运动神经元病进行书写。通过塑造父亲的爱妻形象和母亲圣地亚哥式的英雄形象,作者说明关爱和抵制隐喻性思维在面对疾病时的重要性。与此同时,巴恩斯以去妖魔化的方式塑造具有诸多中国传统美德的针灸师罗兹夫人:一方面,强调这种良好的医者形象可以赢得患者的信任,有益于激发患者恢复健康的美好心境,从而有助于患者积极面对疾病;另一方面,阐明其世界主义文化观——肯定东方文化,反对文化霸权主义并倡导文化多元论。

Title: Illness Narratives and the Image of Chinese Acupuncturist in “Pulse”

ABSTRACT: In his short story “Pulse”, Julian Barnes explores how to help senior citizens deal with illness by weaving together illness narratives and portraying a Chinese acupuncturist. He adopts the restitution narrative and the quest narrative to dwell respectively on anosmia and motor neuron disease suffered by an old couple. Characterizing Dad as a caring and loving husband and Mum as a heroine like Hemingway’s Santiago, Barnes illustrates the significance of love and anti-metaphorical thinking when handling illness. In the story, the de-demonizing image of a Chinese acupuncturist with many traditional Chinese virtues shows that such a doctor can win the patients’ trust and help them to positively tackle illness in the healing process. The image of this Chinese acupuncturist epitomizes Barnes’s cosmopolitan view of culture, which means affirming other cultures, opposing cultural hegemonism, and advocating cultural pluralism.

神圣 的和亵渎的现代自我:

评《神圣的和亵渎的爱情机器》中的价值逆反

内容提要:艾丽斯·默多克是20世纪中后期活跃在英国学术领域的重要哲学家和小说家。她一生都致力于现代性文化的伦理学讨论,并用自己的写作实践不断探索和建构新的公共话语,为当代文化理论提供新的伦理学词汇。她于20世纪70年代创作的小说《神圣的和亵渎的爱情机器》对构成现代性隐忧之价值逆反现象进行了深刻剖析。小说以不动声色的笔触,冷静而尖刻地展现了现代人物质繁荣的表象下精神生活趋于工具化和自利化,公共文化中“崇高之道”逐渐丧失的暗淡现实。小说用极度的美学体验唤醒人们关于善之价值的伦理思考,最终搭起通向正义图景的桥梁。

Title: The Sacred and Profane Modern Selves: Inversion of Values in The Sacred and Profane Love Machine

ABSTRACT: As an important philosopher, novelist, and public intellectual, Iris Murdoch was an active presence in the English academic field in the latter half of the twentieth century. She dedicated her life to exploring ethical issues of modernity, constructingnew public discourses, and creating an ethical vocabulary for modern cultural theories. Her 1974 novel The Sacred and Profane Love Machine is a thought-provoking examination of the inversion of values, which emerged as a modern malaise. With an impersonal style, the novel displays, calmly yet sharply, the dark reality that, under the sacred lure of material prosperity, tends to be growing instrumentality and self-interestedness in people’s spiritual life, as well as a gradual loss of the “sublime course” in public culture. The novel evokes people’s ethical conception of the value of goodness through an extreme aesthetic experience, and eventually constructs a landscape of justice as well as a bridge for its practice.

论《桤木王》中的“食人魔”形象

内容摘要:法国“新寓言派”作家图尼埃在代表作《桤木王》中,以寓言与象征笔法,展示了源自民间传说的“食人魔”形象在小说主人公迪弗热身上的显现。通过错误地阅读“征兆”,主人公迪弗热先是将食人魔作为自己外表丑陋与被欺辱的原因,而后又在实施犯罪时将食人魔视为自己作恶的借口。最终,迪弗热在成为“真正的食人魔”纳粹军队的合作者之后,完成了从普通人到魔鬼的转变,并揭示了纳粹才是真正的食人魔。小说通过食人魔在迪弗热与纳粹身上并存的描绘,深刻反思了纳粹产生的人性根源。

Title: The Image of the Ogre in Le Roi des Aulnes

ABSTRACT: In his novel Le Roi des Aulnes, the French writer Michel Tournier uses fables and symbols to describe the references to ogres made by the novel’s protagonist Abel Tiffauges. By misreading the signs, Abel Tiffauges first uses the ogre as the reason for his ugliness and being bullied, and then uses the ogre as an excuse to commit crimes. In the end, Abel Tiffauges completes his transformation from an ordinary man to the devil after becoming a collaborator with the Nazi army, revealing that the Nazis are the real ogres. Through the depiction of ogres coexisting with Nazis, the novel reflects on the issue of human nature in a profound way.

内容提要:皮埃尔·居约塔因非同寻常的写作在法国文坛备受争议。在自传体小说《白痴》中,作者描述了一个青年的成长和从军经历。大量的感官体验、细微的场景描写、先锋的文学语言,使得这部作品具备了独特的张力。本文拟结合梅洛—庞蒂的身体现象学以及克里斯蒂娃、罗兰·巴特等后现代派理论家的身体书写理论,对《白痴》进行深入解读,以期为国内读者进一步了解这位独树一帜的法国作家开辟一条新通道。

Title: Body Writing in Pierre Guyotat’s Idiotie

ABSTRACT: Pierre Guyotat has been a controversial figure in French literature for his aberrations in writing. In his autobiographical novel Idiotie, the author gives us an account of a young man’s upbringing and his experience in the army, creating a unique tension with details of extensive sensory experience, subtlety of scenes, and a pioneering literary language. This article intends to offer a new reading of Idiotie in the light of Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology of the body and postmodern theories of body writing proposed by Julia Kristeva and Roland Barthes.

内容提要:玛格丽特·阿特伍德的“疯癫亚当三部曲”呈现了一个非未来的未来赛博格世界,作者超前构想了生物技术、基因工程、数字信息等高科技下的后人类景况,并对疾病、身体和主体等概念进行了重写重构。小说揭示了疾病的隐喻体系及其与帝国主义的关联,剖露了身体越界内蕴的后现代性、生命政治和消费主义,在解构传统人文主义“大写之人”的同时描绘出一种混杂主体。阿特伍德的赛博格书写推翻了西方文化源头的中心神话,对新自由资本主义、后工业社会和科技伦理道德进行深刻反思,重新检视人类的境遇、物种的界限以及对“边界”的认知,反映了其具共同体意识的文学实践与现实关怀。

Title: Disease Metaphor, Body Transgression, and Hybrid Subject: Cyborg Writing in Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam Trilogy

ABSTRACT: Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam trilogy represents a future cyborg world to explore the posthuman condition in relation to high technology (biotechnology, genetic engineering, and digital information) and to rewrite the definitions of disease, body, and subject. The three novels examine the conceptual metaphor of disease and its entanglement with imperialism; expound the postmodernity, biopolitics, and consumerism in body transgression; and depict a hybrid subject while deconstructing the “Man” of traditional humanism. 内容提要:韩国作家殷熙耕的《汉城兄弟》可谓欲望的书写和表达,小说塑造了多个性格迥异的欲望主体。作为独立的个体,欲望被不同的“介体”所吸引和形塑,呈现出一定的独特性;作为交融互动的主体,四位主人公互为中介、相互摹仿,最终生成一代人共同的欲望,体现出主体欲望的普遍性特征。殷熙耕通过对小说人物欲望的生成、沉沦、毁灭过程的描写,揭示隐藏在个体欲望和社会欲望背后的叙事结构及其深层意蕴,展现经济高速发展时期韩国的社会现实及“小人物”的生存无奈和悲哀。

Title: On Hee-kyung Eun’s Desire Writing in Minor League

ABSTRACT: The Korean writer Hee-kyung Eun’s Minor League can be described as a writing of desire, portraying multiple individuals with vastly different desires. In an independent individual, desire is attracted and shaped by different “mediators”, presenting a certain degree of uniqueness. As subjects in interaction, the four protagonists act as intermediaries and imitate each other, ultimately generating a common desire for a generation, and thus reflecting the commonality of the subjects’ desires. By depicting the process of the generation, sinking, and destruction of desires in the novel, Hee-kyung Eun unmasks the narrative structure and deep implications hidden behind individual and social desires, and reveals the social reality of South Korea at a time of rapid economic development as well as the common people’s helplessness and sadness in life.

内容提要:帕慕克荣膺诺奖后的首部小说《纯真博物馆》和真实的博物馆建筑相互独立又处处契合,形成双向互构。小说人物的私人收藏肯定了物的唤起功能和物质力,博物馆式的公开收藏避免了物人关系的过度消解。虚构之物与真实展品一起,成为阶级差异、消费观念及传统与现代思想抵牾的文化表征,表达了社会转型期土耳其的民族性和身份焦虑。展览故事的叙事形式和展出馆藏的建筑实践撤出作家意识对物的介入,呼唤物性回归。小说也在叙事方式上反哺了博物馆建设,小说般的小博物馆范式颠覆了民族史诗叙事,传达了帕慕克对人性深度和历史真实的思考。

Title: Approaching Museum Narrative in Orhan Pamuk’s The Museum of Innocence

ABSTRACT: The Museum of Innocence was the first novel written by Orhan Pamuk after he won the Nobel Prize. The novel and the brick-and-mortar museum are both independent

of each other and interconnected. The character’s private collecting affirms the evocative function and agency of things, while the museum-style public collecting avoids the excessive decentering of the human-thing relationship. Together with the real exhibits, the fictional things become cultural representations of class differences, notions of consumption, and conflicts between traditional and modern thoughts, expressing Turkish nationality and identity anxieties in a period of social transition. The narrative form of stories about exhibits and architectural practice withdraw things from the writer’s intervening consciousness, calling for the return of thingness. The novel in turn guides the construction of the museum in a narrative way. The novelistic paradigm of the small museum subverts the epic narrative of nationalism and conveys Pamuk’s reflections on the depth of humanity and on historical truth.

Title: Religious Taboos, Cultural Representations, and Political Symbols: Food and Drink in V. S. Naipaul’s Indian Trilogy

ABSTRACT: In V. S. Naipaul’s Indian trilogy, his attention to Indian food in everyday life and his detailed descriptions of food manifest his pursuit of the “real” India. In the trilogy, the daily eating behavior of Indians is not only a matter of eating habits, but also a complex issue intertwined with religious ethics, hierarchical privileges, and caste politics, constituting an important perspective for examining the multiple political rights at play in the textual narrative. This paper focuses on food and drink in the Indian trilogy, analyzing how Naipaul explores the religious taboos, cultural representations, and political symbols behind Indian food in three dimensions: cleanliness complex, food hierarchy, and the contest between meat-eating and vegetarianism.

内容提要: 《四海之内皆兄弟》是伊凡·布宁东西方混融意识的结晶。布宁以多重隐喻架构文本,首先以地理景观内自然与文明的割裂隐秘讽刺了帝国主义对殖民地的话语宰制,揭示了东西方权力结构的不对等和意识形态冲突对峙的空间话语格局,并以此反思东西方文明的空间交往历史;其次以佛祖箴言、基督教象征等东西方哲理视点的互释进行文明互鉴的文本实践,试图通过对人类普遍存在状态和共通伦理准则的探讨反拨西方帝国中心主义及殖民话语操演。其中,“兄弟”隐喻有其共同体属性,既呈现了作家对平等、博爱等拯救价值的真切提倡,也含纳了他对东西方思想文明互鉴交融的热切呼唤以及建构人类“精神共同体”的殷切期盼。

Title: Mutual Learning between Eastern and Western Civilizations and Community Imagination in Ivan Bunin’s “Brothers”

ABSTRACT: In his short story “Brothers,” Ivan Bunin illustrates the possibility of blending eastern and western minds with multiple metaphors. Firstly, he secretly satirizes imperialist discourses that dominate colonial areas by separating nature and civilization within the geographical landscape. The purpose is to reveal the pattern of space as a discourse based on unequal power structures and ideological conflicts, and thus to reflect on the history of spatial communication between eastern and western civilizations. Secondly, he carries out the textual practice of mutual learning between civilizations by juxtaposing eastern and western philosophical perspectives such as Buddhist precepts and Christian symbols. The purpose is to counteract western imperialist and colonial discourses while exploring the universal state of human existence and common ethical values. Among such metaphors, the metaphor of “brothers” has its community attribute, which not only voices the author’s sincere advocacy for the values of equality and fraternity, but also embodies his call for integration of eastern and western values, as well as his eager hope for building a spiritual community of all humanity.

内容提要:亨利·列斐伏尔开启了人文与社会科学研究的空间转向。截至目前,国内外学者多聚焦列斐伏尔空间思想的城市维度,忽视其乡村维度。本文借助知识发生学的逻辑理路,探讨列斐伏尔空间思想的乡村维度,指出列斐伏尔的空间思想发轫于乡村,其乡村成长经历和乡村研究积淀对他的空间研究方法以及空间思想的形成产生了重大的影响。正是基于这个原因,列斐伏尔的空间思想内含不容置疑的乡村维度,不仅适用于城市研究,也适用于乡村研究,乡村地理学学者用其构建独特的乡村空间思想体系,便是明证。

Title: On the Rural Dimension of Henri Lefebvre’s Spatial Theory

ABSTRACT: Henri Lefebvre set off the spatial turn in the humanities and social sciences. Until now, scholars at home and abroad have mostly focused on the urban dimension of his spatial theory, ignoring its rural dimension. The present paper explores this rural dimension from a perspective based upon the genealogy of knowledge. It reaches the conclusion that Lefebvre’s spatial thoughts originate in rural space and in his rural life experiences. Earlier rural research had a significant impact on the formation of his spatial research methods and thoughts. As a result, this undeniable rural dimension can be applied not only to urban but also rural studies, the definite proof being that his spatial theory has been employed by rural geographers to build a unique theoretical system of rural space.

头巾 作为解构父权的象征:

帕慕克《雪》中头巾问题再解读

内容提要:土耳其作家帕慕克的《雪》一书与头巾问题密切相关。本文认为,被迫戴上头巾与不戴头巾都是父权的象征,两者背后的宗教主义者和世俗主义者都是男性利益集团。从罗兰·巴特的神话学理论来看,头巾象征社会稳定是宗教主义者缔造的父权神话,世俗主义者则创造了今日之神话。《雪》中的女性缔造了属于自己的神话,将头巾的所指移位为展现女性权力。这个属于女性自己的神话有效,但也存在一些策略性问题。本文认为,在头巾问题上女性身份相较民族身份、宗教身份更为重要,女性应策略性地联合在一起,重点捍卫性别身份。

Title: A Symbol of the Deconstruction of Patriarchy: Revisiting the Headscarf Issue in Orhan Pamuk’s Snow

ABSTRACT: Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk’s Snow is closely related to the headscarf issue. This essay argues that both forced and forbidden headscarf wearing are symbols of patriarchy, and that the religionists and secularists behind both are male interest groups. From the perspective of Roland Barthes’s mythologies, the headscarf symbolizes social stability, which is a patriarchal myth created by the religionists, while the secularists have created the myth today. Women in Snow also create their own myth, shifting the symbolic meaning of the headscarf to women’s power. This myth belongs to women themselves, but there are still some strategic issues. It is argued that, regarding the headscarf issue, female identity is more important than ethnic and religious identities, and that women should strategically unite and focus on defending gender identity.

内容提要:冰球为多元文化背景的加拿大人提供了国家想象的统一象征,是加拿大国家身份的隐喻性表达。瓦戈米斯的《印第安马》讲述了印第安冰球运动员索尔在白人主导的冰球世界中的冒险之旅。在后殖民体育叙事的视角下,小说中的冰球场景既是印第安文化被消抹、同化和驱逐的场所,也是印第安人寻求本土表达和重塑本土文化的场所,折射了印第安文化和白人定居者文化在一个由冰球构建的压缩性权力空间内不断博弈和对抗的过程。索尔使用印第安文化视角构建具有本土意义的“边界灵知”的文化实践,对当今世界印第安文化的生存与重塑具有借鉴意义。

Title: Cultural Erasure and Reconstruction in “Hockey Myth”: Postcolonial Sports Narrative in Indian Horse

ABSTRACT: Hockey provides a unified symbol for Canadians with diverse backgrounds in their national imagination, as a metaphorical expression of national identity. In Richard Wagamese’s Indian Horse, an indigenous hockey player named Saul adventures in the White-dominant world of hockey. From the perspective of post-colonial sports narrative, hockey scenes in the novel are both a space where Indian culture is erased, assimilated, and expelled, and a space where Indians seek native expression and reconstruct native cultures, which properly reflects the continuous competition between Indian culture and white settler culture in a compressed power space constructed by hockey. Saul’s cultural practice of using Indian cultural perspectives to construct “border gnosis” with indigenous significance is a useful reference for Indian cultural survival and reconstruction today.

内容提要:地图在早期的殖民活动中不仅发挥着实证主义的向导功能,也是一种认识世界的方式。在古尔纳的早期作品《朝圣之路》中,殖民地图作为权力话语和知识形式,其意识形态特征及制图摹仿谬误,是帝国种族政治叙事的重要修辞策略,也是破解主人公达乌德沉默谜题的关键所在。古尔纳赋予坎特伯雷—桑给巴尔以殖民地与殖民者的双重视角,揭示出地图话语对种族政治不同表征的形塑。通过地图和文学的互动,古尔纳的叙事地图将主人公的城市行走视为探查种族政治隐秘运行路径的具身性实践,将沉默视为防守叙事的灵感来源。对地图的知识与政治的探绎显露出叙事地图在后殖民反权威写作中的潜能。

Title: Knowledge and Politics of the Map: The Puzzle of Silence in Abdulrazak Gurnah’s Pilgrims Way

ABSTRACT: In early colonial activities, maps not only play the role of a positivist guide, but also function as a way of knowing the world. This essay argues that in Abdulrazak Gurnah’s early work Pilgrims Way, the colonial map, as a discourse of power and a form of knowledge, with its ideological characteristics and the cartographic mimicry fallacy, is an important rhetorical strategy of the imperial racial politics narrative and the key to deciphering the puzzle of the protagonist Daud’s silence. The dual perspectives of Zanzibar and Canterbury as colony and colonizer reveal how map discourse shapes differentrepresentations of racial politics. Through the interaction of maps and literature, Gurnah’s narrative map views the protagonist’s city walk as an embodied practice of probing the hidden paths of racial politics, and silence as a source of inspiration for defensive narrative. The exploration of map knowledge and its politics points to the potential of mapnarrative in postcolonial anti-authority writing.

内容提要:法国作家安妮·埃尔诺的代表作《悠悠岁月》因其自创的“无人称自传”形式而被誉为自我书写的集大成之作。以往的学术研究也多关注作品中“无人称自传”的创作形式,忽视了文本中广泛存在的语象叙事现象。本文认为《悠悠岁月》中的“语象叙事”不仅贯穿、引领、点缀全文,展现了法国战后六十多年的整幅画卷,而且在区分真实与虚构、融合个体与集体、调控观察的焦点与深度以及建构图文互文等四个维度上,为实现作者从个体自传向集体自传的写作转向发挥了不可或缺的作用。此外,它也为现代社会中图像叙事与文学叙事的关系研究提供了新的观察视角与重要启示。

Title: Phantom of Photographs: The Effects of Ekphrasis in Les années

ABSTRACT: Annie Ernaux’s masterpiece, Les années, has been hailed as a remarkable work of self-writing for its innovative form of “impersonnelle” autobiography. Previous academic research has primarily focused on this aspect, inadvertently overlooking the significant presence of ekphrasis throughout the text. In contrast, this paper specifically examines the unique function of ekphrasis in Les années in distinguishing truth from fiction, integrating the individual and the collective, regulating the focus and depth of observation, and establishing the intertextuality between photograph and text. It argues that ekphrasis not only runs through, leads, and punctuates the entire text, thereby presenting a comprehensive tableau of France’s six post-war decades, but also plays an indispensable role in the author’s transition from individual to collective autobiography. Moreover, it offers new perspectives and crucial insights for studying the relationship between pictorial narratives and literary narratives in modern society.

内容提要:《骰子》是德国新秀作家比扬·莫伊尼以元宇宙与人工智能技术为背景创作的科幻小说,构架了多元意识形态有机组合的新世界。莫伊尼作为法学工作者的思想中心是数据时代的“自由”和“公理”,是人在日渐完善的共同体中何去何从的问题。他的论述延续到了《骰子》中。主人公塔索作为所有社会的他者、新技术世界中孤独的个人,在与多个意识形态的激烈交锋中丧失作为个人的欲望信念后,走向对当代政治技术背景下人类自我之存在的终极怀疑。精神分析伦理学热衷于论述社会与个体的关系,政治伦理与个体欲望在科技发展背景下显现出张力。塔索在关于个人的思想矛盾中越行越远的历程对此达成了映射,而这正是莫伊尼在当今数据时代继续向前发展的浪潮中对人类个体意志做出的剖析。

Title: Desire and Politics of the Metaverse: An Ethical Reading of Der Würfel

ABSTRACT: Written by German writer Bijan Moini, Der Würfel is a science fiction novel with a technological worldview in which both metaverse and artificial intelligence are in universal operation. As a lawyer and civil rights activist, Moini focuses on the “freedom” and “axiom” of humanity in the epoch of data, with his core argument concerning the future of the “individual person” in a society where individuals are gradually integrating into a solid “collective.” Der Würfel continues this discussion. Being the “other” of all communities and the lonely individual in the new world, the protagonist Taso has become the intersection of multiple opposing ideologies, which compels him to doubt the existence of “person” in the context of new world, and fall into despair. The ethics of psychoanalysisis keen to discuss the relationship between social ethics and the individual. In the novel, the politics of morality and the desire of individuals form a tension against the background of technological development. Taso’s spiritual journey through his ideological self-contradiction about “person” presents a reflection on the tradition of ethics. This is a clear reference to Moini’s diagnosis of the human individual’s will in the rapidly developing epoch of data.

内容提要:中外学界大多囿于陀思妥耶夫斯基对阿列克谢耶维奇创作形式和艺术效果的影响,而相对忽略了陀思妥耶夫斯基的文化精神和艺术理想对阿列克谢耶维奇的深刻启迪。阿列克谢耶维奇对陀思妥耶夫斯基传统的继承不仅体现在复调书写、互文性关系和艺术效果等方面,还体现在以陀思妥耶夫斯基的多维艺术世界为创作镜像,继承并发展其自由观、苦难观和爱的哲学,最终映照出对“小人物”的神性认同、对无辜者受难的同情以及对终极真理和共同社会理想的追求。

Title: Revisiting the Influence of Dostoevsky on Svetlana Alexievich

ABSTRACT: Dostoevsky’s influence on Svetlana Alexievich’s creative form and artistic effects has been studied at home and abroad, but the findings tend to overlook Dostoevsky’s cultural spirit and artistic ideals. Alexievich’s inheritance of the Dostoevsky tradition is reflected not only in her use of polyphonic writing, intertextual relations, and artistic effects, but also in her creation of a mirror-image of Dostoevsky’s multidimensional artistic world. Alexievich’s work inherits and develops Dostoevsky’s philosophy of freedom, suffering,and love, and embodies the divine identity of the common people, compassion for the suffering innocent, and the pursuit of ultimate truth and a common social ideal.
